Hi!
This week’s topic is about what to do when you’re on a date, and it’s not going well.
- Have you ever been on a date that just wasn’t working?
- Remember that discomfort when you couldn’t find anything to talk about?
I have a few suggestions for you if you’re ever in that position again.
View a bad date as good practice. Remember, the more you practice the better you’ll get at deciding whether a person will be a good fit.
When you’re on a date and it’s hard to make conversation, experiment with changing topics and bringing humor into the situation. You could ask your date this question,
What would you say if I asked you if we could start this date over again?
One of my clients carried a business card with her, that had this message on the back, “Good for 1 do-over.”
Most importantly, don’t take a bad date personally. You’re just not a good match; there’s no one at fault. Give yourself credit for taking risks and reaching out. That’s what matters.
Until next time, enjoy the journey.
Sheila
P.S. Have you ever tried humor on a date that wasn’t going well? What happened? How did your date react? Did it help you relax? Did it help you through?
